UGC NET Normalization Process

Under the UGC NET normalisation process adopted by NTA, scores of candidates who appeared for the exam in different sessions are compared.

Normalization of the scores is based on the Percentile method to calculate the result for the examination.

Through normalization, the difficulty level of the exam is adjusted thereby providing an unbiased score. The scores are allotted between 100 to 0 for each session of the exam. Through Normalization, raw scores are converted to Percentile.

Formula:

Total Percentile = Number of candidates who appeared in the ‘Session’ with raw score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate/Total Number of candidates who appeared in the ‘session’.

Finally, the raw scores are merged with the percentile for both sessions to calculate the final result.
