UGC NET Salary Structure & Benefits For JRF 

  • You will get a fellowship for five years after NTA UGC NET JRF and enrol in a PhD course.
  • You will be able to get a fellowship of the following amounts. The amount of stipend may vary based on institutes.
    • For the First two years: Rs. 31000/- + HRA per month,
    • For the next three years: Rs 35000/- + HRA per month.

House Rent Allowance for JRF

  • Some Institutions may provide suitable single-seated hostel accommodation to the JRF candidate in the institutions. If there is non-availability, HRA, as per the university/institution rules, will be paid to the fellow subject to submit the HRA Certificate through the Registrar/Principal.
  • If you make your accommodation arrangements, you may be entitled to draw HRA as per the categorization of cities by the Government of India.

  • No separate/fixed medical compensation is provided. However, the fellow may use the medical facilities in the institution/university/college.

Leave for JRF

  • JRFs are allowed a maximum period of 30 days of leave in a year in addition to public holidays. They are not permitted to any other vacations.
  • Women candidates are qualified for maternity leave of 180 days at total fellowship rates once during the tenure of their award.
  • In exceptional cases, Junior Research Fellows may be allowed leave without fellowship by the Commission up to one academic year during the complete tenure.
